Module 1 “Friends”
“Neighbours”
I love
watching TV. One of my favourite TV shows is “Coronation Street”.
It’s about
ordinary people who live in the North of England in Manchester. They are not
glamorous.
They meet
in the local café, shops and at work.
Clare is a
childminder. She looks after a baby called Joshua.
David is
the manager of a clothes factory. The workers think he is very strict.
Mr. and
Mrs. Cropper own a café. It opens early every day. They work hard. Mr. Cropper is a very good manager.
Ashley is a
butcher. He’s got a son, Joshua and Clare sometimes takes him to his father’s
work.
Tyrone is a
mechanic and he works in a local garage. He’s got a dog called Monica. He takes
her out for a walk twice a day. He goes out with his friends every weekend.
You don’t
find out about the world news in this show. You learn about life in Britain.
It’s really interesting!

“Healthy Food Shopping”
You are what you eat.
We all need a balanced diet.
When we go food shopping we
always think about what food makes us healthy.
Milk, butter, eggs and nuts
make our teeth and bones healthy.
That’s why we always buy some
cartons of milk and yoghurt, eggs and butter.
I know that fruit and
vegetables give my body vitamins and fiber.
We buy a lot of apples,
oranges, bananas, grapes$ we also buy some bags of carrots, onions, beans and
cabbage.
For our healthy breakfast we
don’t forget to buy some boxes of cereal and some bread because they give us
energy, vitamins and minerals.
We all go to the gym and we
need protein.
We eat a lot of meat and fish
and they are always in our shopping list.
We try not to eat many cakes,
sweets and hamburgers.
We also don’t drink fizzy
drinks because they give us too much sugar and salt.
And of course we never buy
junk food because it’s unhealthy.
But when we go on holiday we
sometimes buy a packet of biscuits, a
tin of tuna, a bar of chocolate, a can of beans and some bottles of water
because we all drink a lot of water.
Our diet is healthy and we are
fit and healthy.
